ADVANTAGES OF MEDIATION

Mediation is safe because you are not locked in. You commit to only one session at a time.

Mediation is private, confidential and is the sane way to get divorced. You can get any outside legal advice that you may want, before or during the mediation.

The mediator will not allow anyone to be abusive, threatening or belittling.

You can take a break at any time from mediation, resuming the mediation process only when you are ready to continue.

You decide what’s fair. You are in control. You are the decision maker and the judge of what is or isn’t fair.

You can get all the information you need to make a decision about each issue, before you sign the final agreement.

You have the ability to develop an agreement that is far more creative and suitable for your own situation than a judge could or would order.

You sign a settlement agreement only when you believe that the agreement will work for you.

All legal documents necessary to obtain a divorce, including all court documents, will be prepared by the mediator.

You will not have to go to court.

Mediation costs less because a cooperative process takes much less time than an adversarial one. The fee for each mediation session is based on an hourly rate and is payable at the end of each session. There are no hidden charges and no retainer is required. A mediated divorce is approximately 75% less expensive than a litigated divorce.

Mediation is an investment in your future. Divorcing couples who reach mutually satisfactory agreements are far more likely to honor those agreements and are less likely to go to court in the future than couples who litigate their divorce.

The mediation process helps you to develop skills in creative, flexible, and respectful problem solving, and these skills are useful in resolving future conflicts.

You can begin the mediation process by calling Centerpoint Mediation at 949.495.4700. The mediator will answer your questions and schedule your initial appointment.
